This is common, and it is related to outdated corporate norms that encourage us to blend in and keep quiet rather than speaking up and standing out. Two ways to help offset this pattern once you recognize it are to gather input from people who know and believe in you, and to build a writing practice where you check in with yourself (past, current, future) through free writing.
Coming back “to the page,” so to speak, is a physical, emotional, and mental action you can commit to that helps you check back in and hear those inner thoughts you have long since learned to drown out.
