Why Captivating?

In today’s age of purpose and meaning, the pressure is palpable for companies to be able to answer one critical question: why does the world need you to exist? So, as my first blog post out of the gate, it felt only appropriate to turn that question inward and start with nothing less than our own why.

Why Captivating? Why do we exist?

It’s an answer that is bound to evolve as we do, but the initial inspiration boils down to a few key reasons. Captivating Consulting exists because…

  1. We believe that a captivating idea has the power to connect people, to move them, and to change the world.

  2. In today’s polarizing environment, we could all use a little more human connection and compassion.

  3. Data has actually shown that the simple act of listening to a really great story can actually change the chemistry in our brains. It makes us happy - and opens our minds to new ways of thinking about the world.

  4. Many purpose-oriented companies struggle to pull their ‘why’ through in their brand strategy. It is easy to mistake the volume of our messaging for a genuine connection with our audiences.

  5. Leaders face these same challenges, and it is increasingly challenging to find that connecting point between what we care about, what we stand for, the way we behave and the organization we lead. Teams are looking for inspiration and purpose, and this is a place where women leaders, in particular, tend to excel.

  6. As more businesses and leaders awaken to the strategic value of putting purpose at the core of everything they do, it has become even more important to bring this through in a brand strategy in a way that is authentic, ownable and meaningful to everyone we seek to reach.

In short, Captivating Consulting was established in honor of the power of a compelling idea to impact the way we feel, behave and connect. This is the fuel that has driven me throughout my career, and it is something that can transform the way leaders and their companies speak, communicate and tell their stories.

We exist to help brands (leaders and companies alike) enhance how they connect people with ideas, and to make them feel something about it. Because that is the most powerful force of all.
